In-demand Child Safety Training for Boards and Councils

Moores have developed best-practice training for Boards and School Councils that is engaging, interactive and fully compliant with the Child Safe Standards (and the Ministerial Order 1359 for Victorian schools). This training includes:

1. Access to a pre-recorded online Child Safety Training session for Board members to watch in their own time, accessible via the Moores Academy Portal covering:
   
   • a concise overview of key obligations, including duty of care, reporting pathways and key offences;
   • the Board’s governance role and oversight responsibilities consistent with the Child Safe Standards and MO1359; and
   • emerging issues and reforms, and practical actions Boards can take to respond.

2. A facilitated Q and A session covering:
   
   • case studies tailored to child safety risks at your organisation and common issues we see in practice; and
   • an opportunity for Board members to ask questions to the Moores presenter.

Outcomes: Board members leave with a clear understanding of their oversight role, key child safety risks, and the confidence to meet their non-delegable responsibilities.

Child Safety Training for All Staff

Moores’ all staff training provides a practical baseline for staff and volunteers and supports a whole of organisation culture of prioritising child safety.

This training covers:

• key child safety obligations including the duty of care, reporting obligations and criminal offences (e.g. grooming);
• guidance on indicators of harm and responding to child safety concerns;
• building culturally safe environments;
• information sharing and recordkeeping obligations;
• how to identify and mitigate child safety risks without compromising a child’s right to privacy, access to information, social connection and learning opportunities;
• case studies tailored to key child safety risks.

Outcomes: Participants build confidence to identify risks early and respond appropriately, consistent with their role and responsibilities.

Intensive Child Safety Workshop for Child Safety Officers (CSOs)

In this session, we build on our Child Safety Training for All Staff and deliver an intensive workshop covering the child safety obligations and expectations of CSOs and case studies tailored to the role of CSOs.

This workshop is designed to empower CSOs to feel confident in managing concerns. We focus on practical tools, consistent decision-making, and defensible responses aligned with your policies and reporting pathways.

Outcomes: CSOs will be equipped to guide reporting pathways and manage child safety concerns confidently and consistently with your policies, supported by practical insight into scenarios commonly encountered in your sector.

Duration: 2-3 hours

Reportable Conduct Investigation Training

This intensive workshop supports organisations to meet their obligations under relevant Reportable Conduct Schemes and conduct investigations that are fair, defensible and aligned with regulatory expectations. It covers:

• the role and responsibilities of investigators when managing reportable allegations;
• identifying indicators of harm and applying thresholds for reporting and investigation;
• practical guidance on gathering evidence, assessing conflicting information, framing allegations and interviewing children;
• working effectively with external investigators, where required;
• responding to child safety concerns in a trauma-informed manner, including first response considerations; and
• tailored case studies exploring complex and high-risk scenarios drawn from practice.

Outcomes: Participants develop the practical skills and confidence to manage reportable conduct matters and support investigations in a consistent, policy-aligned and defensible way.

Moores Academy

Moores Academy is an e-learning platform hosted on Thinkific, designed to offer secure access to training materials while tracking staff progress. We will provide your organisation with a dedicated private URL for access to your training videos or video series.

Upon accessing the platform, users will be prompted to enrol by entering their name, email and setting a password. Once enrolled, users can immediately begin the training. Upon successful completion, all users will receive a certificate of completion.

We will provide you with regular reporting to track user completion. Additionally, we can incorporate quizzes or follow-up questions post-video to assess comprehension.
