Webinar Recording – Safer Internet Day: Social Media and Child Safety

As the use of apps and social media amongst young people have continued to rise, so too have opportunities for abuse and misuse. In 2020, the Office of the eSafety Commissioner saw record highs in reports of cyberbullying, image-based abuse and illegal and harmful content, with a 40% increase in the number of cyberbullying reports alone. Documentaries such as The Social Dilemma also helped to raise alarms about the impact of social media usage.
As organisations resume their face-to-face interactions with children, they should revisit their strategies to effectively safeguard children from online abuse.
Moores’ webinar recording on Safer Internet Day explores:

  • Trends in social media usage amongst young people
  • Key concerns and recent case studies
  • Emerging issues for organisations
  • Practical tips for creating a child safe online environment
